WEAR IT WITH PRIDE

This Country, along with their brave allies fought across many a land , air and sea with such sacrifice that it is now hard to imagine what life would have been like if the allies had failed in their bid to stop Hitler from World domination during World War Two.
 Vorsprung durch technik wouldn't be the only sentence i can say fluently in my best deutsch .

The first World War ( 1914 -1918 ) , a  stand against the occupation of Belgiun and France produced 15 million deaths and over 20 million injured across both sides on all fronts

A timeline can be found at http://www.greatwar.co.uk for the full list of events that led up to the start of the first World War after Archduke Franz Ferdinand of Austria was assassinated in Sarajevo,  which prompted the Austro-Hungarians to declare War on Serbia on the 28th of July 1914 .

Also this site has the list of graveyards where all the fallen now rest in comparative peace time as a sombre reminder of what went on nearly 100 years ago . Too many obviously.

 For the men and women who died on those battlefields in these Wars, the Falklands, and the soldiers who still fight on the front line whenever, and perhaps too often , our government commands them to in far away lands of Iraq and Afghanistan.
Their level of commitment never wavers and their bravery never questioned .
The soldiers do not make political policy.

All we are asked to do is show our gratitude through silent remembrance on the 11th hour , of the 11th day of the 11th month .
THE OTHER IS TO BUY A POPPY AND SUPPORT THE ROYAL BRITISH LEGION ,
to show your respect and thanks for  what they did in the ultimate hour of need . 


Some people have said that the wearing of a poppy is a political statement and it shows support for  wars being fought around the world . 


The freedom that our fallen gave their lives to protect has given these people the FREEDOM  of speech in the first place to claim such things and in my opinion it is not political, it is about REMEMBRANCE ......SO PLEASE
