Queen Honours The Mar-mite Man

Over three-quarters of those recognised in the Queens Birthday Honours List are what the press like to call "ordinary" people.
Their headlines thou, always highlight more well known entertainers , or sports stars, but then you wouldn't read about the 'man you never heard of gets an OBE'
It is very easy to just say that celebrities get paid enough already for the job they do , but financial rewards are what comes with success .

One Knighthood stood out more for me than other and that was the continued good work of Robert Edwards , the IVF pioneer who recently was given the Noble Peace Prize for medicine in recognition for the work he did that brought about the birth of the first test-tube baby 34 year ago .

Some feel it unfair that an athlete who wins a gold medal, can , as in the past receive a Knighthood or becomes a Dame, yet people like David Stuttard who worked tirelessly to provide clean water for thousands in Africa only gets an MBE.

It was inevitable Bruce Forsyth, the mar-mite man of British TV , so-called because you either love him or hate him , would get a Knighthood . Knight to see you , to see you .......sorry

I have found 2 comments on a website that sum this up perfectly
'What has he contributed to the world except crude and crass 'humour'. I'm bored of so-called celebrities getting honours'
'Congratulations to Sir Bruce Forsythe. A well deserved award to a lovely, witty and entertaining man with a big personality. God Bless you Sir'
