AMAZING PREMIER DRAMA ' AT THE WRONG END OF THE LEAGUE '

My view, like many English football fans centres almost entirely on the shortcomings of our own teams that we support , but this season for me was very different as my attention focused on the lower rungs of the lucrative ladder.

Three weeks before the ' Sunday Survival ' finale, the premiership title was all but decided . The same could not have been said of the relegation dogfight that had many fighters all desperate to avoid the championship trap door, into which has become so very difficult to escape from .

West Ham imploded to an early exit without their injured talisman Scott Parker, which left the perennial struggler's, together with early season over-achievers Blackpool to battle out for the safe haven of 17th position in the table and secure a place in the promise land of premier league paradise for another season at least .

As is the norm when every team is fighting for their lives , they bounce off the ropes like Muhammad Ali and  put in a sustained attack to pull themselves clear of trouble at the very last, Wigan ( 11 points from last 6 games ), Wolves and Blackburn ( 8 points from 6 games ) .

Any one of 5 teams could have been relegated and most had that sinking feeling at some point on Sunday.  Late goals proving costly for some and salvation for others.
This left Birmingham, who have failed to trouble the net with any frequency this year , and the highly entertaining Blackpool to join already doomed Hammers into the abyss .

The last day excitement provided a great end to the season , it only seems a shame that we all have to wait nearly 4 months before it all starts again .
